Tailleurs Cueilleurs Kovè 2022
Bugey, Savoie / France
A blend of Gamay and Mondeuse. From younger gamay at 300 meters of altitude, exposed south-west on clay-calcareous soil and some Mondeuse lightly pressed. Deep, savoury berry fruit and wet soil with a burst of zest in the finish. Aromatically enticing with its gorgeous high-toned purity. Layers upon layers peel off with time. A zen moment in wine. Zero sulphite added.
Tailleurs Cailleurs (meaning pruners-pickers) are based in the village of Saint-Jean-Ie-Vieux, on northern side of Bugey. Here Chloé Bey and Jordan d'Osualdo farm a number of small plots spread across the area, working organically and biodynamically in order to promote a healthy and active ecosystem around the vines. In the cellar no sulphur is used at any stage and all wines are aged in demi-muids before bottling without filtration.
