Ota Yuzushu

Ota Shuzo was created by the ancestors of the 15th century Samurai warrior-poet and military tactician Sukenaga Ota (1432-1486). When Sukenaga Ota also became a Buddhist monk, he adopted the Buddhist name Dohkan, by which he is commonly referred to as today.

The current Ota family can trace their ancestry all the way back to this warrior who was also the architect of Edo Castle in 1457 (today’s Imperial Palace) in what is now known as Tokyo. Ordered by Iemitsu Tokugawa (1604-1651) the third Tokugawa Shogunate to protect the
Tokaido High Road, the Ota family moved to Kusatsu in Omi province (now Shiga) where the family eventually began brewing Sake.

The Ota family has continued to produce Sake which receives nationwide acclaim in Japan, naming the product "Dohkan" after their famous ancestor.

Standard Delivery
Complimentary standard delivery on orders $100+ within 3 working days. For this option, we are unable to guarantee chilled delivery.

Next Day Delivery
Complimentary delivery on orders $150+, or $25 flat fee. Orders are delivered from 12pm - 8pm. Next day delivery cut off is at 12pm. Orders must be placed by 12pm to be delivered the following day. Orders placed after 12pm will be delivered the day after. No 'next day' delivery on Sundays; only 1-hour deliveries apply. 'Next day' orders placed after Friday 12pm will be fulfilled on Monday.

There will be no next-day deliveries on Sundays, public holidays or days that the store is closed, unless otherwise announced online.

1-Hour Delivery
Complimentary delivery on orders $300+, or $35 flat fee. Orders are delivered between 12pm - 4pm. Place order by 3pm latest to receive within the hour. Orders placed after 3pm cut off will be delivered the following day. Please expect delays with unfavourable weather conditions.

Wrong Addresses or No Recipients
Please ensure that delivery addresses, particularly for gifts, are entered correctly otherwise additional costs may be incurred.
