Dacha Wines Welcome To The Dacha 2022
Oregon // USA
Pinot Noir from Corvallis in Oregon. The Lewisburg vineyards are interesting because of the variation in soil, topography, sun exposure, water, etc., across the three acres, and this wine is really a sum of all the parts. The pinot is on a steep southern-facing slope, with more moisture and organic matter on the eastern edge, and across the belly of the vineyard, while the western part where the Wadensville is planted tends to be rocky and drier, sprinkled with madrone seedlings. Vines are 26 years old and is dry-farmed. This wine was fermented in a 900L concrete tank, with a mix of whole cluster and de-stemmed. Because it is impossible to heat the concrete (basically the opening is too small to fit a warming panel through), the fermentation is always long and cool, never much above 65 degrees. Part was aged in neutral oak and part in stainless steel for about nine months before bottling. Because of the later season, the 2022 has riper flavors per sugar content than the 2021, is more structured and serious, but not too serious.
